Conor McGregor is not good enough to be a boxer says Paulie Malignaggi…

It’s widely believed that Conor McGregor will fight again in 2020. He wanted to compete at the end of this year. However, that doesn’t look possible because negotiations with the Irishman are always notoriously tricky. One thing that is certain though, is that his next fight will be in a cage.

Either he will be fighting in prison or he’ll be fighting for the UFC. Right now it could be one or the other. But it definitely won’t be a boxing match. Despite McGregor’s ambitions of capturing a boxing title, he’s simply not at the required level to beat a bonafide boxer at his own game.

At least that’s what Paulie Malignaggi thinks. The former welterweight champion infamously sparred with McGregor. He recently lost a bare-knuckle match to McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov. However, he believes that McGregor just doesn’t have the capacity to be a professional boxer.

Not Realistic

Paulie Malignaggi insists that the reason McGregor hasn’t boxed again is that he’s not good enough. He found out the hard way against an aged Floyd Mayweather that there are levels to the game. In short, the MMA fighter just doesn’t have the skills required to be a force in the boxing world. Despite recent back-and-forth with promoter Eddie Hearn, it doesn’t look like McGregor’s world. Malignaggi told iFL TV:

“Eddie is a real genius businessman, a really smart businessman. So if he’s got an ace up his sleeve I wouldn’t be surprised. I just don’t think Conor McGregor can box.

“You’d probably have to get him the guy that sold me these nuts [to fight]. Or the guy who sold me this water, or this juice. That’s a few wins right there. He can’t fight, he’s not a boxer.”

No Sense

Meanwhile, Dana White insists that McGregor will not be fighting Frankie Edgar. Edgar and Mcgregor went back and forth on Twitter yesterday. The Irishman was pushing for a December fight. Of course, this got fans very excited because both of these men are extremely popular. A McGregor fight is an event, but it looks like Edgar won’t be the beneficiary. White told Boston Herald:

“Edgar is two weight classes below him. He was supposed to fight Aljamain Sterling. Aljamain fell out and got hurt. Frankie is coming to the end of his career, and he could end up getting himself into a title position again. To take the Conor fight makes no sense.”

Edgar has said that a McGregor fight is the only one that would stop him going down to 135lbs. We’ll have to wait and see what he decides to do. If anybody deserves a ‘red panty night’ it’s ‘The Answer.’

Under Investigation

Furthermore, McGregor could have a lot more on his plate. It’s been reported that ‘The Notorious’ is facing a second charge of sexual assault. An investigation is ongoing in his native Ireland. The New York Times reported in March that the Irishman was being investigated for an alleged assault.

The alleged victim said that her attacker coerced her into his vehicle. Then he allegedly forced her to commit a sexual act. Both of these alleged incidents occurred in Dublin, Ireland. Irish law prevents local media from naming alleged attackers before any charges. However, they confirm that it’s the same famous Irish sportsperson as named by the New York Times.
