An MMA match between professional boxer and former WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder and MMA fighter Nate Diaz might happen in the future.
This is being echoed by the recent statements from the two fighters who are excelling in their respective fields. Nonetheless, this will be a huge move for Wilder, who will have to explore the MMA realm for the first time.
In his statement to InsideFighting, the boxer affirmed the idea of entering the MMA cage. “I’ll be down to get in there with Nate for sure… we going to see there’s only one way to find out.”

Upon hearing the statement, Diaz commented on the matter, praising Wilder’s enthusiasm to try MMA. Alongside this, Diaz pushed the idea of drafting the contract of the fight. On his Twitter account, the American professional mixed martial artist wrote:
Let’s get these contract written up asap.. Real fight s–t respect to a real fighter down to fight for real. All love to boxing But this is different REAL s–t LFG 1993
Of course, the interest of the two fighters does not guarantee that the fight will see the light of day. If pushed, nonetheless, it is another interesting fight to watch since the common trend involves MMA fighters switching to boxing. With Wilder taking the opposite path, we will see if he will have the same fate as former boxer James Toney, who fought and lost to former MMA fighter Randy Couture at UFC 118 in 2010.
