Team Ireland vs. Team USA, who you got?
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor made the ill fated trip to welterweight this past Saturday March 5, facing Stockton brawler Nate Diaz in the UFC 196 main event. Diaz shocked the MMA world by submitting McGregor in the second round.
The mixed martial arts community reacted in the way only they could, releasing a torrent of hurtful memes and bashing the fallen fight, but it’s far from over for the Irish boxer. Still the reigning featherweight champion, there’s one fight that everyone wants to see right now.
Although the ‘Notorious One’ might want to brush up on his Jiu Jitsu skills, the loss against a seasoned veteran like Diaz was nothing to be ashamed of, and was probably the best result overall.
Now with the Rafael dos Anjos fight on hold, and the very premature talk of a welterweight title fight obliterated, it’s back to business in the UFC featherweight division, where a line of hungry contenders awaits McGregor. None hungrier than the former lightweight boss Frankie Edgar.
Edgar is killing it at featherweight, defeating BJ Penn, Cub Swanson, Charles Oliveira, Urijah Faber and Chad Mendes. His quest for a fight with McGregor has been a hard fought one to say the least, and he has a message for McGregor after his loss.
