UFC 196 is now in the rear view, but still very fresh in all our memories. The moments that emerged from that event will go down in mixed martial arts history as some of the craziest ever seen in the sport.
Two champions were defeated in epic fashion in Las Vegas, Nevada, although only one was fighting in their rightful division. Holly Holm got choked out cold, losing her bantamweight strap to Miesha Tate, and then there was Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz.
Diaz shook the foundations of the UFC with a monstrous beatdown and submission win over the UFC featherweight champion. Of course there was no belt on the line as the scrap took place at welterweight.
What was on the line though? Well, a ton of pride after such a heated rivalry, even though it was only 11 days in the making. The two had a very short time to get a decent hype train together, as Diaz was a late replacement for the injured lightweight boss Rafael dos Anjos.
But boy oh boy, did they make the most of that 11 days. Pre-fight presser, hot mic stytle trash talking sessions and some of the greatest insults ever made Diaz vs. McGregor impossible to miss.
Now, in the time since and immediately following McGregor vs. Diaz, there’s been a Ronda Rousey-type backlash towards ‘The Notorious.’ There’s one particular video though, one that even we didn’t see until today, that is going completely nuts online right now. You really need to see it to believe how awesome it is.
