Even being associated with Conor McGregor these days can make you famous. In the latest round of crazy news involving ‘The Notorious,’ his well-known sparring partner gets confronted by a gang of hoods with knuckle dusters…

Since setting the hype train rolling in 2013, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has been all over the news. With his brash statements, temporary retirements, crazy knockouts and lavish lifestyle, it seems the world is fascinated by the Irishman.

McGregor’s ruthless trash talk and savage knockouts have seen him rocket to superstardom in no time. These levels of fame don’t often come without downsides, as we’ve seen in and out of the octagon for McGregor.

His brutal loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 saw ‘The Notorious’ become a living meme for the next six months. He would later fight Floyd Mayweather in an ill-fated but extremely profitable boxing match.

His latest round of controversy did involve fighting, but not in a ring or cage.

Gangland Affiliation

During an alleged pub brawl confirmed by multiple witnesses, ‘The Notorious’ was said to have battered a member of the Kinahan family. The infamous crime syndicate was said to have put out a hefty contract on McGregor’s life.

Whether or not that story has credence is another matter, but it could be linked to a news story doing the rounds today. Boxing prospect and McGregor’s sparring partner for the Nate Diaz fight, Conor Wallace, was confronted by a gang of knuckle duster-wearing hoods in Ireland this week.

Here’s Wallace’s statement on the scary run-in:

Wallace was accosted by a group wearing brass knuckles in an Irish hotel…

Wallace vs. Men With Knuckle Dusters

”I was met by a group of people who made all kinds of accusations against me,” Wallace said in a statement on Facebook. “I would like to make it public that I have not been arrested nor charged with anything. The PSNI took me for my own safety, after a member of the public rang the PSNI after he witnessed me being cornered by men wearing knuckle dusters.”

”I appreciate all your help and support in this matter,” he concluded. “This is all I can say as my legal team is now dealing with this matter.”

Hazardous

Perhaps these men were associates of the underworld in Ireland, maybe not. But one thing is for sure, trouble seems to follow Conor McGregor everywhere.

Now that he is potentially out of the octagon for another 10 months, MMA fans are hoping the Irish star can at least keep out of bother.

“And to the other fighters, not only to the sport but to the other fighters,” White told Kevin Iole of Yahoo in regards to McGregor owing the MMA world a title defense.

“This is a game of time, do you know what I mean? Time is your enemy in this sport or any other sport. When you’re a professional athlete, time is your enemy. And we can’t go on forever and not give guys the opportunity.
