Former welterweight title contender, Darren Till has been itching to get back in the Octagon for a while. Till is a massive star especially in the UK, was a win away from a title shot but unfortunately, Robert Whittaker spoiled the plan once more. Till has had many scheduled fights but withdrew due to injuries.

After his loss to Whittaker, he was scheduled to face Jack Hermansson but withdrew. The UFC then booked him against Marvin Vettori but also failed to make it on the fight date. Now, he is facing an elite wrestler Derek Brunson which could pose him many problems. Brunson is also on a 4 fight win streak, so momentum is on his side.
Darren Till has been known as an elite strike that even current champion, Israel Adesanya wants to fight eventually. Although Till needs to win to deserve a title shot, not just one but needs to rack up a streak as well. It is not easy to be a title contender especially at the highest level like the UFC.
In terms of stylistically, it is the classic striker vs wrestler type of fight. Till has great fundamentals in the striking department and has decent takedown defense as he is a big guy but Derek Brunson also has taken down a lot of top contenders and gave them trouble. Till’s counter striking abilities and left straight is dangerous and could be his main key to victory.
It is just unfortunate that the UFC was not able to book it in Till’s hometown as it attracts a huge number in gates. Just for the reason that there will be a small attendance, Till won’t make “Sweet Caroline” as his intro. For those not aware, Till had an iconic entrance when he fought at Liverpool.
