With all the talk of Floyd Mayweather joining the UFC in 2018, this clip has started doing the rounds. During the video, Floyd Mayweather’s uncle Jeff gets caught in a nice triangle by Invicta star Raquel Pa’aluhi…
Unfortunately for fans who aren’t keen on the more circus-type fights in combat sports, the Mayweather vs. McGregor saga may be continuing. After their August 26 boxing match last year, the duo have been teasing another clash, but this time in the UFC.
Floyd Mayweather had claimed he would rematch Conor McGregor in the UFC prior to their boxing match. Much like many other pre-fight comments during the world tour, Mayweather’s promise was somewhat disregarded.
It wasn’t until the former boxing champion started posting videos of him in an MMA cage that fans started talking about the possibility of him joining the UFC. Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of rumors and outlandish claims from all sides.
Floyd Talking Crazy?
Obviously, the massive underdog in this unlikely equation is Mayweather. It would take just one takedown, kick, flying knee or any other unfamiliar technique to instantly put ‘Money’ out of his comfort zone.
Even though it’s pretty much a ludicrous idea, the cash that would be generated has UFC president Dana White also teasing the fight. When’s the last time a member of the Mayweather family even trained MMA?
Best we can find is this clip of Jeff Mayweather, Floyd’s uncle, getting choked until he nearly passes out by Invicta bantamweight Raquel Pa’aluhi:
Jeff Looks Lost But Claims Floyd Has a Chance
Jeff Mayweather has gone on record, per the Mayweather Boxing Channel, as saying he still believes Floyd has a chance in the UFC. He even teased a fight against CM Punk, of all people:
“I don’t know who (CM Punk) is, but we might actually whoop his ass first,” Jeff told Mayweather Boxing Channel.
“It’s the same thing that went through Conor’s mind. It’s money, it was an event, basically, this would be the same thing but in reverse. If it’s about money then it’s worth the risk, it doesn’t harm Floyd’s legacy. It’s different sports, it didn’t hamper Conor’s legacy (coming to boxing).”

“He’s not a boxer so nobody expected him to win. Even my ass, first of all, Floyd carried him. Conor was going to get knocked out, and what happened? He got knocked out. The reality is this, Floyd’s sport is different.”
“The punches in MMA are completely different, Conor has a massive advantage over Floy, but Floyd has a chance. He is way faster and way more elusive than Conor, and he punches harder than Conor.”
“The same way he whooped his ass in boxing he can whoop him in MMA. It’s a dance, it ain’t about running, that’s boxing. MMA fighters do it too. McGregor can’t do that as well as him, and as long as he does that Floyd has a chance of winning.”
