As a former fighter, Paul Felder knows that every fight is a risk. And now that he might make a return again, the current UFC color commentator is not just entirely sure about the move.

During the initial announcement of the details of UFC 300, CEO Dana White shared that Jim Miler will have a participation in the event. The fighter secured the spot after submitting Gabriel Benitez at the UFC Fight Night 234 last weekend and is now weighing on his options. One of them includes Felder, who has been in retirement since 2020. And with UFC 300 marking one of the promotion’s historic events, the commentator is considering making a comeback.

Although Miller is also now eyeing Matt Brown as one of his choices, Miller mentioning his name made Felder ponder about continuing his MMA career. “The Irish Dragon,” however, is not fully convinced that saying yes to Miller would be the best decision to make, especially if he would consider his current job now and the possibility of getting a serious injury that could affect him in the long run.

“I mean, what if it goes terribly wrong?” Felder said in an interview. “I’ve established myself as a broadcaster now. I’ve been trying to get back into acting… You don’t want your last image to be a bad one. It could go wrong. So there’s definitely that downside, right? But that’s fighting every single time, ever.

“That’s the only real downside that I see,” Felder continued. “What if there is one more injury at the end of my career? What if I turn down some broadcasting jobs and then I get injured at the last minute and can’t make it to the fight? Or Jim gets injured and can’t make it to the fight? There’s a lot of what-ifs in fighting, unfortunately.”

Fortunately for Felder, the callout is still not official, as Miller seems to be leaning more on Brown. Yet, if Miller chooses him, Felder will find himself in a difficult situation where he might make a gamble.
