Hagler reigned as the undisputed middleweight champion from 1980 to 1987. “Marvelous” Marvin holds the highest knockout percentage of all undisputed middleweight champions at 78 percent.
Many analysts and boxing writers also consider Hagler to have one of the best chins in boxing history. He had not even tasted a single knockout defeat in his 67-fight career.
Hagler liked to clinch and rough up his foes on this inside when he was not trying to rip off their heads off. Any avid MMA fan knows that dirty boxing is effective in the cage. Guys like Randy Couture, Michael Bisping, Cain Velasquez and Jon Jones all use dirty boxing techniques.
Hagler’s brazen toughness and ruthless punching power in four-ounce gloves would have been a recipe for destruction in MMA.
