Of course, all of that just pushes closely towards ‘worst case scenario’. The possibility exists that McGregor could also successfully land the Mayweather bout and make more money than he has ever imagined.
Everyone knows a Mayweather-McGregor bout is going to do record-breaking numbers. McGregor knows it and so does Mayweather. That’s why the two are working so hard to make the fight happen. Given, not everyone thinks it will be a competitive fight. That’s understandable.
But there’s no doubt it will be one of the richest combat sports events in history.
If McGregor lands the Mayweather bout, it wouldn’t matter who wins or loses. McGregor will be due for the biggest paycheck a mixed martial artist has ever gotten for a single fight. It could be close to the original $25-million figure that was reported weeks ago.
Of course, this is exactly what McGregor wants. That’s why he’s putting his entire UFC career on the line just to make this one fight. There’s just too much money on the table to pass up. If McGregor and Mayweather can make this fight happen, the Irishman could ride off into the sunset a very rich man.
