5. Previous Steroid Accussations
This isn’t the first time Jon Jones’ name has been mentioned in the same sentence as steroids. Jones’ test results from a pre-fight test before UFC 182 didn’t show that he was on PEDs, but it did suggest that there has been some milling about as it concerns his testosterone levels. The man who brought these concerns to the public was the infamous Victor Conte.
Conte is man who famously ran the BALCO laboratory which provided big name athletes with performance enhancing drugs in the 90s and early 200s. After admitting to supplying athletes such as Barry Bonds with steroids, Conte would serve time in prison but now is something of the go-to steroid expert in some media circles.
Jones’ testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio was different by more than 80%. Conte says that any deviation of greater than 30% is a red flag that something is up, though it doesn’t amount to a failed test.
