There’s been so much going on in the world of mixed martial arts this week. We are right in the middle of a crazy three day run of UFC events, the first of which went down last night (Wednesday Jul 7, 2016).
This weekend’s TUF 23 finale and the blockbuster UFC 200 card are still to come, but there’s been a ton of action outside the octagon too. Jon Jones’ removal from the card due to a failed drug test and also the UFC 202 hype train have also highlighted this crazy fight week.
After Nate Diaz defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 196, the MMA world went in to a frenzy. The bout took place at welterweight, meaning McGregor did not risk his featherweight title, but he was still heavily favoured to defeat Diaz.
The Stockton bad boy planted his infamous slap on the face of ‘The Notorious,’ eventually wearing him down in the second round. Choking his way to an almost instant tap, Nate Diaz became a superstar in the space of eight minutes.
In the midst of all the madness going on during the biggest week in UFC history, Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor came face-to-face once again. For the first time since their first illustrious rivalry, Diaz and McGregor shared a stage.
