First Event In Fight-Hungry New York
Sure there are a ton of underground MMA cards in New York, but none of them were held by any major MMA promotion. After a bill was passed to allow MMA in the state legally, it was only a matter of time before the UFC would make its way to the Big Apple.
New Yorkers love their sports. They have the New York Knicks, a team which has stunk up the NBA for longest time (sorry Knicks fans, it’s true) and the Yankees (well, yeah) but the people have stuck with them.
Madison Square Garden is also where history’s best professional boxers have performed. Truth is, fans in New York just love their sports. And the only thing missing was MMA.
Now that UFC 205 is just around the corner, you can imagine the kind of atmosphere we can expect on fight night. It’s going to be absolutely legendary and those who will be in attendance are a lucky bunch.
