Floyd Mayweather Discusses Jon Jones & Conor McGregor Joining TMT

Is Floyd Mayweather trying to take over the sport of MMA?

For those who aren’t clued up on recent events, boxing great and former five division champion Floyd Mayweather is getting himself heavily involved in MMA. He’s not looking to fight in the UFC, but he’s been heavily linked to a boxing match with Conor McGregor.

The UFC featherweight champion got yanked from monster UFC 200 card after missing a press conference, and out of the blue came these rumours of a boxing match. Mayweather confirmed they are currently negotiating this fight, but that he’s also in talks with light heavyweight interim champion Jon Jones.

Mayweather claims he is flying out for a business meeting with the former undisputed UFC champion, making his conquest in the MMA world just a little more interesting:

“I signed another fighter today. I’m working with fighters, trying to sign fighters.”

Mayweather was referring to a 17-year-old Puerto Rican prospect he just added to his TMT roster. It seems like he also has a much bigger name in mind though, as he once again brought up the UFC star.

“I’m about to go to Albuquerque, New Mexico to meet with Jon Bones Jones, the best MMA fighter in the world. I’m working on the daily. Trying to help fighters grow, not just in the ring, but outside.”

“(We were) talking business,” Floyd said about his earlier conversation with the interim UFC champ. Me and Jon talked about the future of his career.”

Is Floyd Mayweather trying to poach the UFC’s biggest stars right before the promotion’s rumoured sale? One thing is for sure, a lot will change if the Zuffa owned organization does get sold.

And if Floyd Mayweather is involved, there’s a ton of money to be made.
