Black Fighters Aren’t As Popular As They Should Be

Back in the day, guys like Maurice Smith and Kevin Randleman were a couple of the first to be called UFC champions. And they were two of the best fighters in their era. However, neither of them reached superstar status the way other white fighters did.

Regardless of skin color, Smith and Randleman should have practically become megastars during the early days of the UFC. However, that was another era and another time. And the UFC wasn’t as popular back then as it is now.

Have times changed? Joe Rogan doesn’t seem to think so.

Rogan points out that Jon Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champ, although immensely talented is also not as popular as he should be. Granted, that has a lot to do with Jones himself. But still, food for thought.
