Ian Machado Garry managed to keep his slate clean by defeating Geoff Neal at UFC 298 this weekend.

The victory was a split decision, with the judges giving them the scores of 30-27, 28-29, and 30-27. The bout was initially dominated by Neal, who started the match with a handful of leg kicks. The fight then proceeded to the cage, with Neal controlling the opponent against it. After this, the two exchanged attacks, with Neal making shots and Garry sending kicks. The round was concluded by “Handz of Steel” making a combo.

Unfortunately for Neal, his dominance ended in the first round. By the second round, the output had started to diminish, but Garry was making combos. This continued in the final round for Garry. The two traded attacks in this round, with “The Future” beginning to bleed from his nose. The output, nonetheless, continued to decline, with the round ending without a big scene.

In the end, however, Garry managed to take the win through a split decision from the judges. This has extended his UFC winning streak record to seven fights after defeating Neil Magny via unanimous decision last August. Ultimately, this could allow the 26-year-old Irish to move up the ranking of his division, with the idea entertained by CEO Dana White. According to the executive, the latest win could even give Garry the fight against bigger names like Colby Covington, Shavkat Rakhmonov, Gilbert Burns, and more.
