5 days after opting out of his DAZN contract, Canelo’s team has announced that the boxer will face the current 168lb King. It has been a year since Canelo(53-1-2) has stepped in the ring and he will not get a tune-up fight. He will face the top champion of the super middleweight division Callum Smith(27-0). When Canelo faced Kovalev he moved up 2 weight classes above him, when he faces Smith he will fight the weight class he skipped. It will be a tough test for Canelo as Smith might have the range advantage but Canelo has proven that he can beat someone long with the likes of Sergey Kovalev.
tremendous news is yet to come 👊🏼🇲🇽👊🏼#teamcanelo💪🏻

The tale of the tape, in terms of physical attribute Smith has the advantage with a height of 6ft 3in with 78in reach while Canelo has 5ft 9in with 70.5in reach. The question is will Smith just stay outside and keep the fight a distance or will Canelo be able to close the distance and pressure Smith. Canelo might come in as the favorite as he is ranked as the pound for pound king as of this moment. In my opinion, it would have been an even odds if Smith didn’t come off a controversial win against John Ryder. In terms of resume, Canelo has a huge advantage and it is not even close. He has fought more world titles and beat better opponents. Stylistically the fight favors Canelo due to his fighting style but boxing is something one can predict.
Even though Canelo has not fought for a little over a year, he still keeps staying active and grind. We might see a highly motivated Canelo against Smith.
¡El @Canelo entrena a tope! 👊
