Jan Blachowicz doesn’t think Jamahal Hill could beat Alex Pereira. And in case “Poatan” wins, the Polish shared his intention to push a rematch between them, saying he could even be a reserve fighter for the Pereira-Hill bout.
Blachowicz lost to Pereira in their light heavyweight bout at UFC 291. Poatan won via a split decision, but Blachowicz is not satisfied with how this ended. That being said, the Polish fighter said that he wants a rematch if Pereira wins over Hill and he defeats Aleksandar Rakic in their rematch at UFC 297 on January 20.
“If Pereira will fight against Jamahal Hill and he’s going to win, and I believe that I’m going to win against Rakic, so this rematch, they have to give it to me because our fight was split decision, and I believe the referee gave a bad decision,” Blachowicz said. “So, they have to give me this rematch.”
Blachowicz is even open to the idea of becoming a reserve for Hill in hopes of facing Pereira again. Yet, he’s certain that in case the fight between the two is pushed, Hill won’t stand a chance, saying “Sweet Dreams” might find it hard to fight again after a long rest and recovery from an Achilles tendon rupture surgery. With this, Blachowicz expressed confidence that Poatan could handle this bout easily.
“We’ll see how he’s going to feel after the injury because sometimes it’s hard coming back in great shape,” Blachowicz told Middle Easy. “You still got something in the back of your head that you have surgery and you’re coming back. You don’t know how your leg is going to feel. So, I don’t know. In this moment, I would put my money on Pereira.”
Hill, nonetheless, has an opposite view, calling himself the “real champ” after expressing dissatisfaction with how Pereira ended his fight with Jiří Procházka at UFC 295.
“I thought the stoppage was a little early, they could’ve let it go a little bit more, give [Jiří Procházka] a chance to defend himself a little more,” Hill said. “But overall, [Alex Pereira] landed some good shots…overall, I just think I’m on a different level than what I saw.
“Whenever I come back, whoever’s posing as champion will have to see the real champ…[recovery] is going really good, I’ll be ready to start camp by January, and from there we’ll just get locked in and get rolling from there,” the former light heavyweight champ said. “Hopefully second quarter of next year [I’ll return].”
