38-year-old UFC legend, the Hawaiian BJ Penn was sure he had what it took to mount a late career comeback in the world of MMA, but there was no way he could have foreseen what would transpire inside the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 103 against 24-year-old rising star Yair “Pantera” Rodriguez.
The former two-division champion Penn was completely dominated by the younger man in Rodriguez. “The Prodigy” looked absolutely nothing like his former self, as he got completely destroyed by his stronger, faster opponent.

Joe Rogan took to his Youtube cast to watch the fight with Brian Callen and Brendan Schaub to watch and comment on the fight, and suffice to say, they pretty much cringed every second of the way. It was obviously a horrible way for Penn to go out, but that’s the way the fight game eats legends alive.
Penn had no business being in the Octagon with a young and hungry lion like Rodriguez. In fact, Penn had no business being in the Octagon at all. He was clearly way past his prime years ago. And the idea of continuing his career should make absolutely no sense to anyone.
“It is nuts that he [Penn] is able to take those heavy shots, it’s unbelievable,” said Rogan.
“BJ getting his *ss whooped just makes you want to eat some Taco Bell. You’ve got to hate yourself to eat at Taco Bell,” said Schaub.

And just before they finish talking about how bad fast food is, Penn is rocked by a Rodriguez head kick and finished off with punches from the top.
That was all she wrote.
It’s unclear whether or not Penn will once again retire. His coach has stated that Penn may still continue to compete. To be fair, Penn did look in shape. Although he was nowhere near who he was in his prime.
