Huge News for the UFC heavyweight division as Jon Jones’s first fight in the Heavyweight will be for the title. His opponent would either be the greatest UFC heavyweight or the most powerful puncher the UFC has ever seen. That question will be answered on March 27.
The bottom line is Jon Jones moving up gets the fans really excited because it poses a lot of questions to how well will he do against bigger guys. His size advantage won’t be there as he will be fighting guys bigger than him, and his speed will be diminished as well due to him bulking up to cope with the size advantage.
Meanwhile, the heavyweight division has a lot of talented fighters. It has been such a long time to see such a stacked heavyweight division. Usually the heavyweights only have 3-4 talented fighters but fighters like Curtis Blaydes, Ciryl Gane have shown promises in their fights. To top it all off Jones is also moving up just makes the year of the heavyweights even better.
Jon Jones has always been criticized of his size and reach advantage make the fight unfair in some occasions but he has proven to be a smart and skilled fighter time and time again. He will prove the doubters once again why he is the of the best to ever do it.
A lot of questions, but Javier Mendez who trains Khabib, DC and more said that if Jones wins the belt at heavyweight, he will consider him the GOAT of MMA. It may be the only thing that Jones will need to settle the GOAT argument once and for all.
Another name that has been lingering in Jones social media is Israel Adesanya. If both clash as LHW and HW Champions, it will probably make the biggest fight the UFC has ever seen. Both GOAT contenders clash and in their prime is a rare sight to see, especially in combat sports.
This is only a dream fight but hopefully we get to see it. If Adesanya and Jones gets past their next fight which is a difficult thing to do, then we might see them clash next year. Dana White has said that this is his “dream fight” as well so who could make it more possible than Dana White in the UFC.
