2019 was massive for Jorge Masvidal. At the age of 36, he finally broke out and became a star. Crushing knockout wins over Darren Till and Ben Askren were the story of his success. Then to cap it all off he defeated Nate Diaz to win the BMF title. Now he has options in front of him.
To sum up, it’s either Conor McGregor or a title shot against Kamaru Usman. Only a potential McGregor fight would stop you from taking a title shot because the amount of money involved is life-changing. However, Masvidal is willing to take the Usman fight as long as he gets clarity.
Speaking to Arial Helwani, he made it very clear that he’s tired of sitting around. The Cuban-American is one of the toughest men out there and he wants to capitalize on his fame.

Title Shot
If McGregor isn’t interested then Masvidal is more than happy to fight for the title instead. Kamaru Usman is waiting for him too. Nobody wants to fight the first African champion in UFC history. He is a smothering presence in the octagon. Nobody that is except Masvidal.
“He [McGregor] don’t want the fight so I don’t give a f*ck no more,” Masvidal said. “I’m moving on from that fight. This dude didn’t want the fight. I’m not here to bully. I guess it’s Usman’s head. He sealed Usman’s fate now.”

Clarity
Masvidal admits that if McGregor wants the fight it’s on. But he’s not going to beg for it like other fighters. It’s either happening or it’s not. Right now all he wants is clarity. If that means taking a smaller paycheck, he’s willing to accept that. He said:
“One of these two guys is gonna have to scrap with me. I’m leaning right now towards Usman, the way he’s been talking, the sh*t he’s been saying, but if Conor wants it, we’ll get it done. It won’t be hard to get it done but I’m not going to sit here and entertain bullsh*t and stuff, you know? I just want to scrap.”
“I make a considerably larger paycheck with Conor. But if it’s on the personal side, if it’s all potatoes and tomatoes being the same, I would take a lot more pleasure in dismantling Usman’s face than I would Conor’s,” Masvidal said. “I would have a sincere joy inside of me like a kid on Christmas opening numerous gifts if Usman was the dude that I got to baptize.”

No Personality
There’s something intimidating about the amount of dislike that Masvidal has for Usman. He really wants to cause ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ some damage. The title would be a nice bonus for the veteran as well. It’s also more likely that McGregor would want to fight him then too. He said:
“There is something about his face. I don’t like it, it doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t like his attitude either. These little comments of ‘who?’ I have been doing this 16 f*cking years. I’m the fighter of the year, and I’m at your f*cking weight class and you’re going to be as corny and a petty-ass troll and say ‘who?’
“The dude ain’t go no personality. He has 17 different f*cking personalities but not one of them is made for TV. So I want to f*ck his ass up.”
