Snoop Dogg is Training in MMA and Has Released Footage of a Sparring Session Online…

Picture the scene: “In the Blue Corner, with 17 Grammy Award Nominations, hailing from Long Beach California… SNOOP DOGG. In the Red Corner, with 14 Grammy Nominations and 1 Win, Queen’s Finest Rapper… 50 Cent!!!”

Stranger things have happened. Snoop Dogg has released footage of him sparring so it surely won’t be long before we hear rumors about the 49-year-old fighting Michael ‘Venom’ Page in Bellator. The rapper is well accustomed to the world of combat sports and it would honestly be no surprise if he wanted to fight at least once.

He commentated with Urijah Faber on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender series, on the “Snoopcast”. He infuriated a number of fighters with what they considered to be disrespectful commentary. The most infamous incident involved Matt Brown who threatened to punch the rapper following comments that he made about Conor McGregor.

Footage

In the video, Snoop Dogg can be seen with a pair of gloves on his hands and getting down to business. He doesn’t really land any clean strikes against his sharper opponent, but his actual movement isn’t bad at all. He throws combinations instead of single strikes, so clearly has some experience of boxing, and his head movement is pretty good.

He probably still shouldn’t fight Matt Brown anytime soon though. The UFC welterweight fighter really wasn’t impressed by comments that Snoop Dogg made about Conor McGregor’s fight against Floyd Mayweather. Brown went on an astonishing rant on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

“Snoop Dogg, that piece of shit,” Brown said. “I’ll call him out. He called out Conor. He called him a bitch. That’s not cool, man. I don’t care, he put it out in public. He could have apologized, deleted it, whatever. If I go to the UFC PI, I might just punch him if I see him there. I’m cool with that.”

Cardio King

Another thing he’s been doing is hitting the cardio hard. If you go on his Instagram there are multiple posts like the one above of Snoop Dogg running on the treadmill, oxygen mask on his face. I mean, let’s be real, he’s probably still going off and smoking a joint after, but credit where it’s due right? He still looks like a badass.

The question is though, is he really just doing this for the good of his health or has he some other motive in mind? Wiz Khalifa recently said he’d be open to fighting in MMA. Can you imagine that? Put them on the undercard of Chuck Liddell vs Tito Ortiz III. Still a better fight than anything involving CM Punk.

Crazy Rappers

Snoop Dogg isn’t the only rapper in recent weeks to get involved in the world of MMA. 50 Cent bizarrely called out Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, prompting speculation that he was set to fight in Bellator. These guys have way too much money and time on their hands.

Don’t expect to see either of them in an octagon/ring anytime soon.
