Jorge Masvidal had as good a 2019 as any other fighter. The UFC’s first BMF champion knocked out Darren Till and Ben Askren on his way to glory. Then he inflicted a savage beating on Nate Diaz. The big question is who will ‘Gamebred’ fight next?
If things work out for him, Conor McGregor could be next in line. The Irishman is fighting Donald Cerrone at welterweight in two weeks. With Khabib Nurmagamedov taking on Tony Ferguson in April, it’s unlikely the Notorious would get another shot at his Russian rival until the end of the year.
McGregor wants to fight three times this year so a clash with Masvidal makes sense. He’s marketable and the UFC could see the return of the BMF title. Only time will tell if the Irishman can get past Cerrone, but do you think he can beat Masvidal?

Cyberbully
Masvidal is famously outspoken. He doesn’t hold back when it comes to giving his opinion. ‘Gamebred’ is definitely up for a fight with the former champion but doesn’t want to go back-and-forth online with him. If McGregor wants it then they should just book it. Otherwise, stop talking. Masvidal told Dan Le Batard
“To be quite frank, he was flirting with fighting the winner when the possibility of the winner was Nate. And he kept throwing it out there. He even made his prediction he thought Nate would win. Since I’ve won, he hasn’t said a peep to address me or nothing.
“I’m not a bully, either. I’m not going to be one of these cyberbullies.”

Money Fight
He did make it clear though that he’s ready to fight for big money. It doesn’t matter if it’s not McGregor as long as he gets paid. But Masvidal doesn’t want to waste his time on someone fickle. Either they fight or they don’t. In short, it’s really that simple. The Cuban-American fancies his chances against everybody. He said:
“If you don’t want to fight, I don’t want to fight. If you want to fight, I’m licking my chops. Man, we’re going shopping. We’re going to do it big. You know what I’m saying?”

Welterweight
However, McGregor has said that he’s not at welterweight just to fight Masvidal. He’s also genuinely interested in competing for the welterweight title. Many believe that Masvidal has too much power for the Irishman. There’s a good chance that’s true. But it would definitely be a big earner for both men. McGregor told The Mac Life:
“I’d face Jorge. But I’m not going to 170 just for Jorge. He hasn’t really got anything, I wasn’t really that happy with how that ‘Bad Mother F***er’ thing ended, I think it’s unfinished, in my opinion, that bout is unfinished.”
First of all, ‘The Notorious’ must beat Donald Cerrone. If he can’t achieve that then all his dreams will be crushed. Cowboy will be more than happy to burst his bubble. They fight in two weeks at UFC 246. It’s set to be a big one.
