Things Have Come to a Head… Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagamedov’s Beef Has Evolved Into Something Much Darker… Now the UFC Are Set to Intervene After Dana White Announced that Steps Will be Taken…
According to Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagamedov’s wife is a ‘towel.’ That was the tweet that he quickly deleted, but not before half the world had it screenshotted. Half of the world are now calling him a racist, while the other half thinks it’s hilarious.
McGregor and Khabib don’t like each other. Everybody knows that they’ve got one of the most toxic rivalries in the sport, with only Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier’s beef as bad. It all came to a head after the fight when the two camps got involved in a messy brawl.
Now they’re both serving suspensions and McGregor is pretending he’s retired. They’ve been feuding over the past few days and now it’s got to a level where the UFC has issued a statement saying that they are going to intervene to deescalate the situation.
Toxic
It all came to a head after Khabib compared McGregor to a jealous girlfriend in a recent Q+A session. That resulted in the tweet above where the Irishman called the Russian fighter’s wife ‘a towel.’ Khabib being a devout Muslim did not take this double attack on his religion and his wife very well. So he wrote the tweet you can see below:
“Rapist, you are Rapist. You are a hypocrite who is not responsible for your actions. Justice will find you. We will see. @TheNotoriousMMA.”
Woah this has escalated to seriously dark levels.

Intervention
Obviously, it does not look good if two of their most high-profile fighters are calling each other rapists and insulting each other’s religions. It’s got so bad that Dana White has actually intervened himself and issued the falling statement via a UFC press release.
“I am aware of the recent social media exchange between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. The ongoing situation has escalated to a level that is unacceptable. As such, we are taking the necessary steps to reach out to both athlete camps and this situation is being addressed by all parties internally.”
It’s time to take a timeout guys. Good luck trying to control these two though, they’re off the charts crazy.
Volatile
McGregor is famously difficult to control. So it really wasn’t that much of a surprise when he took to Twitter again to unleash another stinging rebuke to Khabib and his wife. Of course, being called a rapist isn’t exactly going to calm him down. He wrote:
“Plot twist: it’s a goat under that towel.”
Ouch. McGregor and Khabib are both currently suspended, although the Irishman will be eligible to return at the end of this month. He’s facing serious sexual assault allegations in Ireland and has apparently retired, although nobody really believes him. Meanwhile, Khabib is planning on sitting out until September. He will then fight the winner of Max Holloway v Dustin Poirier.
