The Internet Never Forgets… Conor McGregor Has Been Caught Out After Tweeting and Deleting a Derogatory Attack on Khabib Nurmagamedov and His Wife…
Khabib Nurmagamedov made an absolute show out of Conor McGregor at UFC 229 back in October. It was a brutal contest, with the second round possibly being the worst battering the Irishman has ever suffered in his life. Although Khabib slowed down in the third round, he rallied to submit ‘The Notorious’ in the fourth, sealing an emphatic win.
McGregor and Khabib really don’t like each other. Both men are currently sitting out suspended because of their roles in the brawl after the fight. While McGregor is pretending to be retired, Khabib is off around the world attending Q&A sessions, and hanging out with sheikhs and Arab princes.
That doesn’t stop them from taking aim at each other whenever they get a chance. Has McGregor gone too far again this time though? Now he’s being accused of racism after saying that Khabib’s wife looks like a ‘towel.’

‘Towel’
You can only assume that McGregor’s PR team had a panic attack after seeing this tweet go live, because it very quickly vanished from the Irishman’s account. However, with the magic power of screenshotting available to the masses, the picture has already been shared across the internet. McGregor wrote:
“Your wife is a towel mate.”
He might not have intended to be racist, but it definitely doesn’t improve his image which has been badly tarnished of late, including serious sexual assault allegations in Ireland.

Reaction?
It seems likely that the tweet was intended as a response to a comment made by Khabib at a recent Q&A session, where he was asked about McGregor’s supposed retirement. Like most people, he doesn’t believe for one minute that ‘The Notorious’ will be stepping away from the sport forever. He said:
“I don’t think he’s finished. Conor acts like a jealous wife who says ‘I will leave’ all the time but then comes back.”
That is a brilliant line from a man on an upward trajectory.

Prospects
The careers of both these men are at massive turning points. McGregor appears to be investing a lot of his time in promoting his whiskey that we will not name here. He must deal with charges pressed against him for stealing and damaging a phone in Florida, as well as those potentially career-threatening sexual assault allegations. Meanwhile, Khabib is possibly the most feared champion on the roster right now, other than Jon Jones.
While he is refusing to return to action until September, when his teammates Abubakar Nurmagamedv and Zubaira Tukhugov are eligible to return to their bans, we get an interim title shot between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier. Whoever he fights next it’s sure to be a great battle and we can’t wait to see him back in action.
