The King of Cringe Against the ‘Bullet’? File Under Never Going to Happen… But Imagine if it Did… Henry Cejudo Called Out Valentina Shevchenko for an Intergender Title Fight…

Right now, Valentina Shevchenko looks unstoppable. She cruised through a victory against Liz Carmouche, without having to do anything spectacular at all. That’s good for her record but bad for her fan appeal. A lack of proper competition and boring fights won’t help her stay popular.

Fans want a KO as she produced against Jessica Eye, every time she fights. Obviously, that’s not going to happen, but it’s fair to say a step up in competition would be nice for the Kyrgyzstani fighter. She’s just so technically proficient and skilled that there doesn’t look like anyone stopping her at flyweight.

Well, Henry Cejudo has something to say about that. The men’s flyweight champion – and bantamweight – has announced that he wants to take on ‘Bullet’ in an intergender MMA title fight, the first of its kind. Obviously, it’s never going to happen, but you can check out the callout below.

Cringe

Cejudo has earned a reputation as the cringiest fighter in the game. Did you know he has an Olympic gold medal? Well, combined with his two UFC titles, Cejudo is now styling himself as ‘Triple C’ and wants to take all the gold hardware on offer. It’s believed he even has eyes on the featherweight strap.

‘The Messenger” is a genuinely talented fighter though. He’s beaten Demetrious Johnson, TJ Dillashaw and Marlon Moraes in his last three fights. That’s quite simply sublime.

Dominant

Now though, he’s called out Shevchenko on Twitter. Apparently, he’s jealous of her being called the most dominant champion in the UFC. Cejudo said:

“So I am out here enjoying my beautiful Sunday here in beautiful Las Vegas. But my phone just keeps blowing up that somebody by the name of Valentina ‘The Bullet’ Shevchenko is the most dominant champion in the world. And guess what? I get a little jelly, because you know what she has gold and I want that gold!

“Valentina Shevchenko, I have a message for you. I am looking to become the first intergender world champion that this world has ever seen. I’m calling you out. You can be the next to bend the knee to ‘Triple C.’”

No Chance

Realistically, Shevchenko is definitely up there with Jon Jones and Amanda Nunes as the roster’s most dominant champions. Cejudo can’t claim that yet because he scraped a decision against Johnson and got pieced up by Moraes in the first round. Of course, it’s all in good fun but still… the cringe.

Meanwhile, no US commission would pass a fight between a man and a woman at the highest level. Even if they weigh the same, the bone structure and muscles are totally different and would be too dangerous. Oh well. How about making Cejudo fight as a flyweight and letting featherweight Amanda Nunes at him?
