Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov may have retired from the sport for good but it will always be interesting to give his insights on the state of the lightweight division. In a podcast with Mike Tyson, he revealed that of all the opponents he faced, one opponent stood out in terms of power.
Khabib is considered by many as one of the most dominant fighters of all time and his fight IQ might be one of the best in the business. Another reveal was that Khabib wanted to get hit by Gaethje to secure a takedown. Khabib has also never bled, knocked down throughout his UFC run.
Khabib describes Gaethje’s power “he hit like a truck”. Not only is Gaethje a hard puncher but his leg kick is also the hardest. Even Dustin Poirier has said that Gaethje’s leg kick hit the hardest. To think about it, no one wants to fight Gaethje because he will really go in there to hurt his opponent. Gaethje would rather get knocked out than get to a boring decision.
It is certainly a great feat for Gaethje as Khabib has faced a lot of great strikers like Dustin Poirier, Edson Barboza, Conor McGregor but to have Gaethje stand out among them is a huge achievement. No one wants to fight Gaethje, it is just too tiring and painful. Most would think it is not worth the risk.
