Max Holloway sends a message to Jose Aldo that has everyone talking…

During a highly eventful UFC 212 main event, fans saw a changing of the guard in the featherweight division. Jose Aldo, aside from his blemish against Conor McGregor, had dominated the 145-pound class for 10 years.

After two 10-9 rounds for Aldo, Max Holloway unified the titles with a stunning third round TKO. In doing so, ‘Blessed’ broke a litany of incredible records. As only the second Hawaiian UFC champion ever, Holloway now has the most wins, knockdowns and active streak in the division.

Great Night For Hawaii, Not So Much For Brazil

Handing the title over to such a quality champion as Holloway has no shame attached for Aldo. ‘Scarface’ has paid his dues during his UFC and WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting) run, and is still only 30 years old.

With arguably many more fights left in him, Aldo will no doubt be back. What remains at question is whether he’ll continue at 145 pounds, or possibly chase a McGregor rematch at lightweight.

One thing is certain, though, and that’s Max Holloway’s class. Check out the heartfelt message he sent Jose Aldo after UFC 212, that i getting a ton of heat on Instagram and Twitter:

Holloway sends out one of the classiest post-fight messages you’ll ever read…

Holloway’s Message To Aldo

“Losing is part of this fight game. Saturday night takes nothing away from his legacy. This is a guy who would show up to his gym sometimes without eating in the last day because he was so damn poor. This is a guy who built the 45 division and became king. This is a guy who found motivation to keep earning what he already had. He defended his throne.”

“For a decade. For honor. For his team. For his countrymen. This is a guy who didn’t start at pole position in this world and look at what he achieved. Brazil needs to celebrate that man. Acai with powered milk and cashews for everyone. He’s a GOAT, and his story will always be an inspiration to me and people of Hawaii. Obrigado, Ze @josealdojunioroficial Obrigado.”

What’s Next

As mentioned, there are options for Aldo at lightweight, but for Holloway it’s all about 145 pounds. Frankie Edgar, the former lightweight champion, recently made his case for the first crack at Max:

“The cards fell in my favor, so here we go, let’s set up Holloway vs. Edgar,” Edgar said on a recent appearance on “The MMA Hour.”

“I just don’t see how he’s in consideration,” Edgar said. “Since me and Cub fought, I’ve fought nothing but Top 10, Top 5 guys and I don’t think he’s fought anybody in the Top 10 … and he’s also lost to Max. So I don’t see how that’s even a thing to even compare to. Cub’s a great fighter, but this is how it goes and you have to put yourself on the line every time … and I do that.”
