RIP Kimbo Slice

Street fighting sensation and mixed martial artist Kimbo Slice has tragically passed away in Florida aged just 42 years old. He was hospitalized late last night (Monday June 6, 2016) and later fell in to critical condition.

Doctors attempted to revive Kevin Ferguson (real name) but he sadly died of heart failure. He was scheduled to fight James Thompson at Bellator 158 in London this coming July 16.

Kimbo rose from a street fighting youtube sensation to Bellator MMA’s biggest pa-per-view draw. His fight with Ken Shamrock at Bellator 138 shattered their all time viewing records, he was 5-2-1 as a mixed martial artist and 7-0 in pro boxing.

Kimbo vs. Tank Abbott

Back in 2008 Kimbo Slice fought UFC legend Tank Abbott in Elite XC. In just his second pro MMA fight Kimbo showed why he would go on to be one of the most well known named in fighting with a brutal KO.

The knockout launched the future of Kimbo’s MMA career, which would include a brief stint in the UFC.

Slice would go on to be labelled a ‘youtube sensation’ by promotions such as Bellator and the UFC.
