Nate Diaz is the latest to weigh in on Conor McGregor’s boxing chances…
Bringing together the worlds of MMA and boxing, Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor is the talk of combat sports. Currently booked to collide on August 26, the Irish slick talker and his American counterpart have sparked huge debate.
Among the most frequently discussed topics is McGregor’s boxing. Although a great striker in MMA, ‘The Notorious’ hasn’t tested himself against a mediocre boxer, let alone the man many feel is the best in modern pugilism.
One man who has extensive experience with McGregor’s hands is Nate Diaz. Thus far, Diaz has fought more rounds with the Irishman than anyone in his career.

Nate Diaz Not So Impressed By McGregor’s Boxing
During an interview with ES News, Nate Diaz said that McGregor’s boxing is amateur at best. According to Diaz, he is not completely done fighting, either:
“I think this is a big publicity stunt, but McGregor has a good shot to make something happen in two to three rounds,” Diaz said in a recent interview.
“But I think he has an amateur style where he only has good movement and punches for six to eight minutes, and that’s too amateur for Mayweather. I’m just saying, he’s got a puncher’s chance if anything.”
“But when it comes to his skill and technique he has an amateur style. Anybody can be good for nine, six, seven minutes. They all have that puncher’s chance but this guy (Mayweather) is ready to go round after round, and he’s a hard person to get ahold of.
“But who knows?”

“I was in negotiation issues with the UFC, so I was talking to boxing promotions. I talked to the UFC about it but they weren’t having it at all. It’s the same thing, they are going gun ho with him, but not promoting me. I would be willing to fight. I’m open to keep fighting in martial arts or going in to boxing also.”
Diaz is not lone in his ambitions to take on boxing too. Since the announcement of Mayweather vs. McGregor, countless boxers and UFC stars have tried to get on the undercard.
According to UFC president Dana White, that’s not going to happen. So what’s going to happen when all the dust settles on this madness?

Back To The UFC?
That question is a tough one to answer. From a monetary perspective, McGregor could almost certainly retire, even without fighting Floyd. The prospect of him defending a UFC title, now that would likely be a big motivator, regardless of how his ‘Money’ fight turns out.
