Despite the result of his first professional boxing fight, Francis Ngannou believes he won over Tyson Fury that night. And with that belief, the MMA star is confident in securing an official win the next time he steps into the boxing ring to face Anthony Joshua.

Ngannou faced Fury last October and lost. Despite that, it can’t be denied that the match ended up as a challenging match for Fury, who was floored by Ngannou in the third round of their fight through a powerful left hand. This led to a controversial split decision, with Ngannou earning quite a reputation in the boxing world. To this day, some still believe it was the night that was rightfully for the Cameroonian-French, and the fighter still holds to that.

“I won,” Ngannou said on the High Performance podcast. “Look at me now, look at my life, look at where I was when you think I lost. You think because some foolish judges make some decision, that change anything in my life? My family that I was telling you about, they were sitting in the first row watching that fight.

“The dream that I was in since I was kid, I was, that night, living that dream on top of the world. I was there. And for all the people that (have) been doubting me, I was there proving them wrong. For everybody that ever looked me down, I was there proving them wrong. I won everything.”

With this confidence that he was the winner that night, Ngannou is certain that taking down Joshua in his next boxing match is not impossible. Despite analysts and some fans viewing him as the underdog in the fight, “The Predator” believes he will be announced the winner this time.

“Nothing is impossible, right?” Ngannou said. “We don’t know the strength of Anthony Joshua but even though I don’t believe he has that strength, but we’re going to find out,” Ngannou said on the “High Performance” podcast. “We’re going to find out, and I think the reverse is going to happen. I’m going to be the one taking his soul.”
