UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will face a serious threat to his title at UFC 194. ‘The All-American’ takes on the former middleweight champion of Strikeforce Luke Rockhold, that goes down on December 12.

There was a time when Weidman himself was a hungry contender, working his way through the ranks of the promotion in hopes of one day facing the champion of the time, Anderson Silva.

After compiling nine straight wins, Chris Weidman was granted his wish, and was booked in to face the rampantly dominant champ Anderson Silva at UFC 162. At the time, ‘The Spider’ was running the longest ever UFC streak, he had the most title defenses in the promotion’s history, and was a ridiculous favorite over the unknown Weidman.

Much like the recent run up to UFC 193, Silva was disrespectful to the contender Weidman. Also a lot like Ronda Rousey’s fall from grace, the Brazilian legend faced a sobering reality when he eventually faced the heavy underdog on fight night.
