ONE Championship fans will be thrilled to know that the company will be having an eventful year next year. According to the latest announcement of the promotion company, it will be returning to Singapore and Japan and debuting in Europe. Alongside those things, it shared that ONE 166 is now set for March 2024.
The company revealed some of the initial details of its plans this week, starting with the ONE 166, which will be in Qatar. It was originally expected on December 1. Yet, according to ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong in his latest Facebook post over the weekend, the debut event in the Middle East state is now set for March 2024.
“Get ready for ONE 166 in Qatar on March 1, 2024!” Chatri wrote.
Meanwhile, the executive also confirmed the return of its ONE 165 and ONE Fight Night 19 events in Japan and Singapore, respectively. Sityodtong didn’t share other details about the two events, but according to the information on its website, the event in Singapore will be on February 17.
Ultimately, the CEO promised some exciting news about the company and Europe in the next two weeks, suggesting the debut of its event on the continent. As for its US events in 2024, Sityodtong said there would be an upcoming announcement for the initial dates and venues.
With all these announcements, the company founder and chairman said that ONE Championship will have its “biggest year in history.” In case pushed, these events will join the planned “mega fight” between ONE superstars Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Jonathan Haggerty, who are both notable in their respective sports and divisions. More than a week ago, Sityodtong shared his intention to make the two meet in the ring, saying the fight “can easily sell out Wembley Arena.”
