ONE Championship fighter Johan Ghazali has just turned 17, and the biggest gift he’s probably received is a contract from the promotion company. With the fighter set to make his main roster debut at ONE Fight Night 17 in Bangkok on December 9, Ghazali said he’s ready to dive into the world of “big leagues.”

At 16, Ghazali became the youngest contract winner in the ONE Championship history, but it was somehow expected after he impressed the company through the four victories he got from fighting for only eight months. Now 17, the Malaysian-American Muay Thai fighter warned his upcoming opponents that “it’s the I’m only 17 era.”

First of the walls the young fighter will try to tear down is 29-year-old WBC International Muay Thai Champion Edgar Tabares. Despite being younger, Ghazali is thrilled to enter the main roster.

“Finally getting my chance in the big leagues. In other words, ‘Welcome to the jungle’. Let’s do this,” shared the fighter on his recent social media post.

Despite the young fighter’s enthusiasm, his upcoming bout will certainly be challenging as Tabares has bigger reasons to win the fight. If the Mexican fighter wins, it could help him patch his career, which suffered from his losses to longtime ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon in May and Elias Mahmoudi in August.

The ONE Fight Night 17 fight between the Ghazali and Tabares will air live in the US on Amazon Prime Video starting at 8 p.m. ET.
