Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate Has Released a Crazy Photo of Her Doing a Handstand While Pregnant…

Being a guy, I’ve never been pregnant, but I guess sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle. Gaining all that weight, losing energy, getting cravings, all that mad stuff that only women will ever experience. Unless you’re Miesha Tate that is. Then you’re an absolute machine.

Tate has long been a UFC fan-favorite. Ronda Rousey’s nemesis and Holly Holm’s conqueror, ‘Cupcake’ had a short-lived reign as bantamweight champion. She retired after losing her first title defense to Amanda Nunes, but her legacy survives, as one of the hottest female fighters ever to fight for the company.

The Tacoma native gave birth to her first child last week, after an insane 67 hours of labor, she gave birth to a baby girl called Amaia. Isn’t that lovely? OK, all baby cute stuff aside here’s a photo of Tate doing a headstand while pregnant. Epic. Probably incredibly dangerous for the baby. But epic.

Extreme Athlete

If you’re an elite athlete – like Tate was – then you’ve got physical capabilities beyond what normal humans will ever dream of. This obviously includes such important skills as being able to a pregnant headstand. Achievement unlocked.

Tate plans on writing a pregnancy experience blog to inspire other women. That might work, or else she’ll just cause a drought in pregnancies because they’ll all be ashamed that they aren’t as badass as her. It’s very possible.

Outspoken

The former champion hasn’t been afraid to comment on current UFC events, in her role as an analyst. She addressed the company’s move to ESPN from Fox Sports and suggested that fighters should get a piece of the pie. Or cupcake. Whatever. She said:

“I can only imagine that it’s going to lead to fighters wanting more money, deserving more money. Without the fighters, the UFC doesn’t make these kinds of deals. The fighters are the laborers. The fighters are the ones making this happen, they’re the entertainers, they are what makes the UFC go around and they absolutely deserve to be compensated.”

I wonder if she got any form of congratulations from Dana White after that statement…

New Journey

Pregnancy can be a factor that makes the career of a female professional athlete totally different to that of a male. ‘Karate Hottie’ Michelle Waterson thought her career was over after she was pregnant in her early twenties.

Meanwhile, the likes of Sara McCann this year, and Julianna Pena are reasonably high-profile fighters who have had to take career breaks. With most women having children in their early thirties, a lot of planning has to go ahead for them to figure it all out, and then get back to their prime athletic peak. It’s fascinating and inspiring.
