Ring girls get no official training from the UFC. Sure, they’re told what to do, but there’s no boot camp for them. There’s absolutely no requirement to know anything about MMA either. Of course, they’re the closest people to the fighters, standing beside them at weigh-ins, and entering the octagon between rounds.
A lot of ring girls actually earn more than the majority of female fighters. This is something that was criticised by former champion Ronda Rousey in the past. Do you think that they deserve to earn as much as they do?

Unless you’re Arianny Celeste or Brittney Palmer there is no job security though. Many ring girls have been dropped for little or no reason. They don’t get long-term deals, which is why they often have other modeling jobs or even totally different careers on the side, like Palmer’s artwork.
The UFC has promised that octagon girls are here to stay, even though Formula 1 and professional darts have got rid of their equivalent. So don’t worry folks, the girls aren’t going anywhere.
