Watch Out Conor McGregor! Khabib Nurmagamedov’s Training Partners Are Next Level, as he Shares Pictures of Sparring With Former Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez…

Earlier today, Conor McGregor made headlines for releasing a video montage showing some highlights from his training camp. So far there really hasn’t been a lot of promotion surrounding his upcoming fight with Khabib Nurmagamedov – apart from a trio of videos.

The video was quite spectacular. We see McGregor grappling with Dillon Danis, practicing his boxing with striking coach Owen Roddy, and executing a spectacular tornado kick. It’s all very exciting and flamboyant.

Khabib has responded by giving an insight into his own training. While McGregor’s home is SBG Ireland in Dublin, under the tutelage of John Kavanagh, Khabib is based in the USA. When in fight camp he works out of the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose. He trains there with the likes of Cain Velasquez, Daniel Cormier, and Luke Rockhold.

Quality Training Partners

There is absolutely no doubt that on paper Khabib possesses training partners of the highest level and pedigree. Cormier is a double champion, as he currently holds the light-heavyweight and heavyweight titles. Velasquez and Rockhold are former heavyweight and middleweight champions respectively.

Khabib – the lightweight champion – is said to walk around at 50lbs over his weight limit when he is outside of fight camp. He regularly works with his heavyweight counterparts and is said to be more than competitive. That’s according to Daniel Cormier, who believes his Russian teammate is one of the best wrestlers on the planet.

Intimidating

As you can see from the images in this article, Velasquez is a hulking figure and is much larger than Khabib. There is surely something intimidating about this for Conor McGregor. No disrespect but Velasquez is much scarier than Artem Lobov.

In the images, they can be seen to be doing some boxing. Khabib is, fortunately, wearing headgear because Velasquez could probably send him into another dimension if he connected just slightly too hard. The fact that Khabib is able to compete and control a much heavier fighter in the clinch is a warning sign for McGregor who is depicted as weak in this area.

Build-Up

Over the last couple of days, the build-up has finally begun to step up slightly. Now that UFC 228 is out of the way, the momentum will shift to McGregor v Khabib in much more dramatic fashion. UFC President Dana White has confirmed that there will be at least a couple of press conferences before the event. That’s no more than you would expect for what is being sold as the biggest MMA event of all time.

Whether or not that is true remains to be seen. McGregor’s comeback promotes itself, while Khabib could finally enter the mainstream if he successfully defends his title. It’s going to be a massive clash. Only one man can win. Who do you think it will be?
