
7. James Toney vs. Randy Couture
For as much as UFC matchmaking is kept in check by the various athletic commissions, occasionally a bout like this one sneaks in there.
Toney had been publicly stating that he could beat any UFC fighter in a bout contested under MMA rules, which is a fairly ridiculous thing to say. The multi-time boxing champion was fairly adamant however, and Dana White decided to sign him to a multi-fight deal to see if he was right. He wasn’t right, not even a little.
White chose Randy Couture to be Toney’s first and only fight in the UFC. Couture took him down and submitted him in just over 3 minutes at UFC 118. Toney was released from his UFC contract afterwards.
