The same ‘famous Irish sports star’ is under investigation for a second sexual assault…
Former UFC two-weight champion Conor McGregor could be in serious trouble. Back in March, Tariq Panja of The New York Times reported that he was under investigation for sexual assault. Irish law prevented local media from naming the alleged perpetrator, so the US news site was the first to name him. In their news reports, Irish journalists refer to the alleged attacker as a ‘famous Irish sports star.’
Now a second case has emerged from a week ago. Irish media report that the same ‘Famous Irish sports star’ is now under investigation for a second sexual assault. Gardai (Irish police) have confirmed that they seized one of the sports star’s vehicles.
Whether or not it is McGregor, he definitely won’t like his name being out there as a potential abuser of women. McGregor has faced multiple charges in 2019. Most notably, he punched an old man in the face. Oh, and he spent a night in a Florida cell for an incident outside a nightclub.

Assault
The alleged incident occurred outside a pub in west Dublin. According to the alleged victim, the sports star and a friend approached her group inside the bar. Later, he then allegedly coerced her into his vehicle. She told the police that he forced her to commit a sex act against her will. CCTV from outside the pub is being used to investigate the incident. Gardai released a statement about the alleged incident:
“Gardai are investigating an alleged sexual assault of a woman that occurred on Friday at approximately 9 pm. No arrests have been made. Owing to the nature of the investigation we will not be commenting further at this time.”
The first alleged sexual assault took place in a hotel in Dublin. Consequently, the investigation is still ongoing and at this time no charges have been pressed.

Nothing to Say
Back in August, UFC President Dana White did not have anything to say about the first alleged incident. In fact, he insisted that he didn’t know anything about it. To be fair, the Irish police don’t have any responsibility to share their findings with him. So he’s probably speaking the truth. In an interview with MMA Junkie, he denied any knowledge of the alleged incidents. He said:
“I know zero about that, to be honest with you. “The back-and-forth that I’ve had with him about that (is) that it’s not him, that it’s somebody else. You know? So I don’t know.”

Troublemaker
Meanwhile, McGregor doesn’t seem that worried about it. In fact, he’s been active on social media. Earlier today he made headlines for calling out Frankie Edgar. In short, it seems like he wants to fight Edgar in December. The Irishman promised to donate his purse to first-responders. That would definitely be a way to curry favour.
However, if it emerges that he did commit sexual assaults then that bubble will pop for sure. He should really keep his head down and stay out of trouble for the next few weeks. But this is Conor McGregor we’re talking about. So there’s as much chance of that as Dana White growing hair.
