TalkMMA on Twitter was the first to put it out there that McGregor and Eddie Alvarez are close to locking in a deal but that McGregor is hesitant because doing so could result in him vacating his UFC featherweight belt.

“The Notorious” won the strap back at UFC 194 with a 13-second knockout of then champion Jose Aldo.

This was December of 2015 and McGregor hasn’t defended the belt since. Aldo is currently the UFC’s interim featherweight champion and a unification bout is certainly in order.

Alvarez on the other hand just recently took the belt from former titleholder Rafael dos Anjos in a memorable bout. A showdown between he and McGregor would be interesting to say the least.

Whatever McGregor decides, fans should know in the coming weeks.
