Perhaps the dude thought he could get one over on the legend Wanderlei Silva, the result was a pretty tasty beatdown from ‘The Axe Murderer’ caught on camera…

Pride FC and UFC legend Wanderlei Silva retired recently after 49 fights and nearly 20 years of competing at the top level. A member of the famed Chute Boxe academy in Brazil, ‘The Axe Murderer’ gained notoriety for his incredible unbeaten run while fighting in Japan.

Winning the Pride middleweight championship in 2002, Silva would go on to defend the crown four times before losing it to Dan Henderson in 2007. The Brazilian knockout artist tallied 27 finishes by strikes in his illustrious career, and won a record 20 straight fights under the Pride FC banner.

Recognized for his aggressive interpretation of Muay Thai in MMA and his exciting finishing ability, Silva racked up a superb record of 35-12-1 (1 NC) during his fighting stint. He had exciting rivalries with Quinton Rampage Jackson, Kazushi Sakuraba and Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic during his prime years.

Silva’s trademark attack was his striking rush, as he bit down on his mouthpiece and swarmed his opponent’s with a barrage of hooks, uppercuts, elbows and kicks. This was how he earned the nickname ‘The Axe Murderer.’

This didn’t come without a cost though, as Silva needed facial re-constructive surgery to repair the damage done to his mug over years of punishment in the fight game. There was also an obvious toll on the Brazilian fan favorite’s sparring partners, as can be seen in the following video.
