3. Georges St. Pierre v Matt Hughes
The two greatest welterweights of all time? Well, it’s definitely the best rivalry the division has ever seen. Hughes was the first loss on GSP’s record after he managed to submit the Canadian great by armbar, with one second left in the first round at UFC 50. This lit a fire under ‘Rush’ and the second fight was one after the immortal line “I was not impressed by your performance,” when Hughes beat BJ Penn.

GSP would win the second by TKO, winning back his title. This meant a rubber match was needed and it happened in 2007, coming off the back of St. Pierre’s shock defeat to Matt Serra. GSP would win this one too. It was a great rivalry based on respect and a true fighting spirit.
