In his latest YouTube video, former UFC Flyweight Champion and Bantamweight Champion Henry Cejudo expressed support for Tom Aspinall, who’s always been passionate about the idea of fighting Jon Jones. According to Triple C, the Briton can be compared to his next opponent, Cyril Gane, but bigger and more powerful. In line with that, Cejudo said he’s now more invested in Jones’s possible fight against Aspinall rather than Stipe Miocic.

If you are tired of waiting for the Jones vs. Miocic fight, you are not the only one. Cejudo has also recently shared the same statement in his new YouTube video, saying the long wait caused him to shift his interest to Aspinall’s aspiration to push a bout against Jones.

“I personally think I like this fight better now for Jon Jones, and that’s Tom Aspinall vs. Jon Jones,” said the fighter. “I like that better than the Stipe fight. I’m jumping ship. Why? Because this fight, the Jones/Stipe saga, has gone on for several years now that I’ve lost interest.”

Cejudo, nonetheless, stressed that the reason behind his opinion is not just limited to the endless wait of the postponed Jones-Miocic fight. As the fighter said, Aspinall has a lot to offer and even described him as a bigger version of his upcoming opponent.

“…that new kid on the block, Tom Aspinall, that people are super high about, that has knockout power, that has agility – he reminds me of Ciryl Gane but with bigger power,” Cejudo explained. “He’s dangerous. He is super, super dangerous.”

Cejudo’s push for the Jones-Aspinall bout follows Aspinall’s consistent pleading to Jones to fight him before his planned retirement. To recall, Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich replaced the fight between Jones and Miocic, which resulted in an interim heavyweight bout last weekend at UFC 295. After his impressive victory, Aspinall quickly responded to Jones’ congratulatory remark and later asked the current UFC Heavyweight Champion for a match. However, Jones is still mum about the matter and seems determined to take his well-deserved retirement after fighting Miocic.
