This is Where the Fighters Make Their Money… Weight-Cutting is So Brutal for Many Fighters… Check Out 10 of the Worst Below…
Michael Bisping recently said on his podcast ‘Believe You Me’ that in about fifty years people are going to look back and say what were people doing. Cutting weight is one of the most common practises in combat sports as fighters try and gain a physical advantage over their competition. The dumb thing though is that everybody does it so the advantage tends to be lost.
ONE Championship has made an effort to cut it out by introducing hydration tests, but even that isn’t flawless. Still, though, it’s a step in the right direction because there have been some truly horrible weight cuts in the past. There are few things in MMA more shocking than seeing a totally drained and weakened fighter on the scales looking like a drug addict.
Check out ten of the worst weight cuts in UFC history below. A shout out to Mizuta Hirota who was very close to making this list.

10. Kenny Florian (UFC 136)
An MMA legend, Florian had fought the whole down from middleweight to lightweight before deciding that it was a good idea to take on Jose Aldo. Yes, the featherweight champion Jose Aldo. The drastic weight-cut really was shocking, as he resembled a skeleton on the scales.
Florian had had most of his success at 155lb, but even that was a big cut for him. Featherweight though was next level and his face and body were completely sunken in like a meth head. He’d go on to lose the fight by unanimous decision.
