4. Letting Brock Lesnar Re-Sign With WWE

Brock Lesnar’s orginal retirement wasn’t necessarily an actual retirement. After having had his entire abdomen reconstructed due to the effects of diverticulitis, Lesnar needed time for his body to heal. He also could use some more time to learn how to fight. Remember Lesnar didn’t even start training in MMA until 2007, just 1.5 years before he won the heavyweight title.

He wrestled a limited schedule for the WWE, and by the time his contract came up again in 2015, he began negotiating with the UFC about a return. Ultimately the WWE gave the more persuading offer however. Considering Lesnar is the second biggest PPV draw in UFC history, losing out on several big money Lesnar fights was a blow for the UFC.

Beginning in 2016 there appears to be some agreement worked out between the UFC and WWE which allows Lesnar the occasional fight. What the UFC needs to give up in return is currently not fully known.
