Trevor Peek is the latest to call out promising UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett, saying he could prove that “Scousers get knocked out.”
Pimblett made a victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 296 last month. The fight was downplayed by the English fighter since the veteran was already in a six-fight losing skid before he handed his seventh consecutive loss. The young fighter, however, failed to make a finish, which disappointed many in the MMA community.
Yet, this didn’t entirely make Pimblett anything less interesting for some fighters in the UFC. After winning, “The Baddy” received callouts from fellow fighters, including Matt Frevola and Rafael dos Anjos. Now, Trevor Peek joins the club.
In the latest episode of his The Peek Nation Podcast show on YouTube, Peek addressed UFC color commentator Paul Felder’s remark about Pimblett being unable to beat ranked opponents. For Peek, the 29-year-old stands a chance against fighters in the top 15.
“I think Paddy is on a good career path,” Peek said. “I think (the UFC) is going to take care of him and going to match him smartly. I think they are going to let him develop his skills… Is he capable of beating a top 15 (lightweight)? Probably, man. Anyone can beat anyone in this game; it only takes one. Skill-wise, I don’t know if he’s up to par with all them guys, but I think he’s probably better than one or two of those guys in the top 15.”
Despite this, Peek thinks Pimblett, who still boasts a clean UFC record, is not unbeatable, ultimately opposing remarks that “Scousers don’t get knocked out.” Ultimately, the fighter expressed interest in facing Pimblett in hopes of tainting his record.
“I do (want to face Pimblett),” Peek continued. “Scousers get knocked out. “I can show the world Scousers get knocked out. I wish like crazy they would let me fight that joker,” Peek continued. “I knew who Paddy was when he was over in Cage Warriors. I’ve been watching him for several, several years. He has always been on my radar. Probably two years before he signed with the UFC, I was watching him in Cage Warriors. I’d take that hype train from him, son… He gets hit.”
