Even thought Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor’s rivalry is over for the moment, it’ll never be truly over. Both men have an entertaining and violent history together, and it all started at UFC 196.

Conor McGregor was scheduled to fight Rafael dos Anjos on March 5. When the Brazilian was injured less than two weeks out, few thought Nate Diaz could get the job done. Following a short but crazy rivalry, the two met in the octagon at UFC 196.

Nate Diaz’s submission win over Conor McGregor seems like a distant memory now. After his shocking win in Las Vegas, Diaz granted McGregor an immediate rematch. Eventually the fierce rivals were rescheduled for UFC 202.

With a full camp this time around, many were betting their money on Nate Diaz to get the win. Many fans will argue he did win the fight, but it was Conor McGregor who won on the judges scorecards.

After a gruelling five round war, the Irish star and Diaz embraced during a moment of respect. It seemed even after their harsh rivalry, the two had a base level of respect that would not die.
