It seems like ages ago that Bob Sapp, the man known as “The Beast”, was actually someone to look out for. Whether in mixed martial arts or in kickboxing, Sapp was once a force to be reckoned with. But gone are those days, and it couldn’t be more evident than in his most recent appearance.
Sapp, 43, hasn’t won a fight since 2010 and is on an unprecedented 14-bout losing streak. I mean, that’s gotta be some kind of a record right? Well, Sapp took that losing streak and added to it, this time in the kickboxing arena.
What Sapp has done in the latter part of his career is nothing short of mindblowing. Sapp likes to book fights, and then show up. He likes to make a scene at weigh-ins, building hype for his bouts. Then in the actual fight, he takes some light punishment, and then goes down. It’s a modus operandi that seems to have fooled a lot of people.
Bob Sapp, former MMA legend, is building a shameful legacy late in his career
Yesterday, Sapp did the same thing in France.
The 43-year-old Sapp lost to little known 39-year-old Tony Gregory at Fight Night Saint Tropez 5, and it was a circus.
Gregory is a French super heavyweight kickboxer and professional boxer. He fights out of Paris, and is a three-time French kickboxing champion, three-time French Muay Thai champion, one-time French boxing champion, two-time European kickboxing champion, one-time Intercontinental Muay Thai champion, and two-time Muay Thai world champion.
The credentials are lofty indeed. But one reason why guys are lining up to fight Sapp is because it’s a guaranteed win against a big name. Sapp is obviously coat-tailing his fame late into his prizefighting career. The only challenge is really, getting as many people as he can to watch.
During the weigh-ins, which took place on the beach, Gregory doused Sapp with a drink. After which Sapp went right at him. Check out the footage below.

Apparently, fans are hyped up with these sort of antics, as loud cheers could be heard during the fight. However, a good fight it was not, as Sapp executed his masterplan to perfection. After taking a couple of shots, Sapp hit the canvas, shaking his head a the referee counted him out.

How did Sapp look in his latest kickboxing bout?
Gregory barely even touched him.
Sapp looked at the referee, shook his head as if to say “No Mas” and the fight was over.
How long will Sapp keep this act up? Only time will tell. I guess you can’t keep a guy like Sapp from wanting to make more money. After all, it’s not that hard to take a dive.
Seriously, this sham is absolutely hilarious. There’s isn’t anything quite like it at the moment. The funny thing is people continue to buy it. Well, at least those who bought tickets. Sapp is a big dude, and that’s the main selling point.
At the very least, if Sapp plans to keep this up, he should upgrade his acting skills so it isn’t too obvious.
