Last night’s big fights featured a battle between Mexican and Puerta Rican legends Saul Canelo Alvarez & Miguel Cotto, but there was one fight that stood out above the rest….
It was a big night of boxing on HBO last night (Saturday November 21, 2015) as Miguel Cotto and Saul Canelo Alvarez faced off at the top of a very busy and intriguing card. Also featuring Guillermo Rigondeaux and a huge front runner for ‘Fight of the year’ on the undercard, there are some really great fight videos in store for today’s reader.
First off let’s look at Alvarez vs. Cotto, it was a hard fought 12 round affair with the vacant WBC middleweight title on the line. Cotto, perhaps a little long in the tooth, did not look up to much although unbeaten in his last 3.
The bout reignites the rivalry in boxing between the fiery Mexicans and Puerto Ricans, but was quite one sided at the end of the night. Alvarez extends his record to 46-1-1, with his only loss coming in a close fight to Floyd Mayweather.
Giving up 10 years to the 25-year old phenom Canelo, Cotto lacked in the power and longevity department when it came to the fact, ushering in a new era of boxing when Alvarez had his hand raised at the end of the night.
