One of the biggest reasons combat sports stars have become mainstream personalities is their ability to cross over into pop culture.

Guesting on late night shows like Conan, or Jimmy Kimmel Live are a couple of examples. Another great example is a cameo appearance at the WWE, which has its own rabid fan base.

Fighters like Floyd Mayweather Jr., Mike Tyson, Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar have all had their stints in the WWE (although Lesnar is different because he came from the WWE, but regardless, the crossover into MMA is there) and these fighters all became superstars.

Combat sports athletes crossing over into the WWE is usually a good thing. Don't count on McGregor in the WWE anytime soon, though.

But if Conor McGregor’s recent comments about the WWE hold any weight, don’t expect to see him in a cameo anytime soon.

“For the most part, those WWE guys are pussies to be honest,” said McGregor. “They’re messed up pussies, if you ask me. Fair play to Brock [Lesnar], he got in and fought, but at the end of the day he was juiced up to the fucking eye balls, so how can I respect that? And then what’s the other guy? The other guy hasn’t fought yet, so I don’t know about him yet.”
